The search has begun for South Australia’s top scientists, researchers, innovators and educators.

Celebrating 20 years, the 2024 SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions and achievements of our best and brightest STEMM professionals, and shine a well-deserving spotlight on the social, economic, health and/or environmental impacts of individuals and teams.

Applications can be entered on behalf of your team, a peer, or for yourself in the following categories:

    • South Australian Scientist of the Year
    • South Australian Innovator of the Year
    • PhD Research Excellence
    • Excellence in Science and Industry Collaboration
    • STEMM Educator of the Year – School (Primary or Secondary)
    • STEMM Educator of the Year – Tertiary (University or Registered Training Organisation)

Winners receive prize money to support future work or career aspirations—$25,000 each for the South Australian Scientist of the Year and South Australian Innovator of the Year, and $10,000 each for the remaining winners.

The 2023 winner STEMM Educator of the Year – School Christie Evans, from Heathfield Primary School, said being acknowledged was a great honour.

“The value of participating in the SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards is the opportunity to highlight the work in STEMM education, not only in the science and innovation space, but also in education.

“Showcasing leading education initiatives is crucial to improving outcomes for students in an ever-changing world.

“The Awards highlight your work and the benefits of STEMM education for students and student achievement.”

    Applications close 5pm Friday, 26 April 2024.
