Innovation in Schools
Entrepreneurial skills, combined with STEM skills are common ingredients in the path towards a more innovative society. To grow the next generation of STEM-skilled entrepreneurs, the Department for Innovation and Skills, in collaboration with the New Venture Institute and the Australian Science and Maths School, are running professional development workshops for teachers on embedding entrepreneurship skills into traditional school curricula.
Innovation in Schools is a workshop for a practical-based learning experience that equips teachers to apply entrepreneurship concepts to a range of subjects.
The development of new business and entrepreneurial focused SACE subjects will complement existing workplace related subjects, with a particular focus on enterprise and starting/running a business.
A specialist program, beginning with four high schools across South Australia known as Entrepreneurial Schools will be established – two in metropolitan Adelaide and two in regional South Australia.
