Building Family Opportunities (BFO) helps families who have been out of work for 12 months or more to access support and assistance to get a job.

Non-government organisations provide intensive case management and mentoring to long-term unemployed families, linking them to local community organisations, training opportunities and employers to assist them to get a job.

BFO case managers work with families to address and overcome complex barriers that prevent them from gaining and sustaining employment.

The BFO program assists all family members and supports young people to complete secondary education and/or participate in pre-vocational, learning and skills development programs that lead to employment.

Families, with dependent children, that are facing or experiencing retrenchment may also be eligible for BFO assistance.
