Happy Haven OSHC Pty Ltd

The Happy Haven OSHC School Based Traineeship Program is a collaboration between Happy Haven OSHC Pty Ltd (Happy Haven) and Australian Child Care Career Options (ACCCO). A significant number of organisations are participating in this successful collaboration.

The collaboration provides opportunities for year 12 school students to undertake a School-based traineeship (SBTA). Trainees obtain a certificate level qualification, gain workplace experience whilst being mentored during their employment hours at Happy Haven OSHC sites.

29 SBTA's are employed and trained across 22 Happy Haven Sites. Formal training is provided by ACCCO during term every Thursday.

Together Happy Haven and ACCCO have developed and deliver a unique traineeship program. The online and face to face combination of learning gives flexibility in the delivery to trainees. The collaboration reaches across South Australia, enabling students from all backgrounds and abilities to participate.

To-date continuously reviewing and improving the requirements of the students and the industry has been critical to the success of the program. Rigorous processes have been put in place to ensure the long-term sustainability and success of the program. This model can be adapted to other industries, allowing skill shortages to be addressed across Australia.

Happy Haven and ACCCO have worked collaboratively to deliver a program that continues to develop, offering a variety of delivery modes, reaching students across a large geographic area, from many different backgrounds.
